"Glow" Gauge Face Overlays
1. Are these difficult to install?
Typically all the Glow sets will require minor modifications to
route the wires out of the cluster and hook up to your
headlights.Top
2. Is it hard to take apart the dash?
All gauge overlay sets are sent out with a full color
detailed instruction set that will guide you through a painless
installation. Additonally, our website’s "Product Support"
page has the install instructions available in multiple formats.

3. Do I have to use the inverter for them to work?
Yes. The inverter converts the 12V DC in to a useable AC voltage
that the glow gauges need to light up. The glow gauges operate
similiar to diode. Basically the glow gauges have layers that
pass the AC voltage from the top layers to the bottom layers.
and excite the middle layer causing them to Glow. By changing
the Frequency of the AC Voltage you can change the color of them.
This is why glow gauges seem to have a light "hum" to them when
placed in the "Blue" glow mode. The frequency of the AC is closer
to our audible hearing levels and is normal for all glow gauges.Top
4. Do these simply cover the face? Or does the old face come out?
All Gauge sets cover the original face and are not replacements.Top
"Colored" Gauge Face Overlays
1. What are the faces made out of (what material)?
All Jeep series (CJ, YJ, TJ, XJ) use a thermally printed
adhesive backed vinyl. Not only does it give a wider range
of colors but the material will actually out last the life
of your jeep. Not only are they weather proof, they won’t fade,
curl, and are 100% waterproof if submerging your jeep. We have
confidence our ‘patent pending’ design will outlast any other
overlay sets on the market. Top
2. Is it hard to take apart the dash?

detailed instruction set that will guide you through a painless

3. Are the gauges blurry at night?
At night they are crystal clear and have 0% impairment of the
original visual display. This is something that we stand alone
as to having the best overlay sets offered. The overlay sets
from '92 forward on the YJ and TJ emit their light through the
face and use a back-lighting to illuminate the face. We use a
cutter machine that precision cuts out the numerals that allow
your original numbers and backlighting to show through. Other
vendors however, are overlaying the entire gauge on these newer
models forcing your dash lights to show through the fibers in
the "printed paper", causing a blurry effect at night. Top
4. I have a Kmh speedo. Can I use a Mph overlay set on it?
The only set that this might be possible on is the '80-'86 CJ
series 0-140 km will overlay an '80-'86 CJ series 5-85mph
speedometer cluster. All other gauge sets won’t have this
capability. Top
5. Do these simply cover the face? Or does the old face come out?
All of the overlay sets easily slip over the needle hub and will
overlay the original face. Each series of gauge styles sets have
there own unique install features on how they are applied to the
face. All the Jeep series overlays use a non-permanent adhesive
backed vinyl. There is no need for permanent glue or double stick
tape other vendors use on their paper overlays.Top
6. If I start to install them and have a question, what do I do?
If for any reason you have any questions that come up, we have a
designated email customerservice@4x4mods.com that will help
assist you and answer any questions regarding our products or
install procedures. Top
Body Decals
1. What is the difference between stickers and decals?
Stickers are generally paper based that are not weather proof
and can be hard to remove. Decals on the other hand, are vinyl
based, weather proof, and can be very easily removed even years
later. Top
2. How long does vinyl last?
Vinyl comes in multiple grades and life spans. All of our vinyl
is 5-7 year high performance grade. None of the grades fade, shrink
or curl and all of them stand up to rain and snow.Top
3. Are the decals just like the factory OEM ones?
They are just like the factory decals but the difference is most
OEM decals are made of a low grade vinyl and have only a life
span of 7 years in the weather. We use only premium vinyl which
will last almost double that. Top
4. What is the difference between Chrome and Stainless Steel sets?
Chrome is a "metal based" vinyl and that has a mirror effect.
The stainless steel is also a "metal based" vinyl but has a
"brushed" effect instead of mirrored. Top
5. Are the old decals hard to remove?
They are very easy to remove. The trick is to use a heat gun (or
a hair dryer). Warm them up to soften the adhesive, then peel
them off If there is any residue left take a piece of cloth and
use easy sticker remover or rubbing alcohol and wipe the surface
clean. Bug & Tar remover at the local auto store works too. Top
6. Is it hard to put the new ones on straight and look right?
To put them on for small decals its basically a "peel & stick".
To align it straight, snip only half the backing off. Align the
decal by positioning the non-sticky half in to the desired
position first. Once aligned then lay the sticky half down. Then
peel the remaining backing off the non-sticky end and adhere it
as well. Peel the top transfer tape off the decal and you’re
done. On really large decals It is usually best to use
application fluid (water and a couple drops of dish soap works
great too). Align the decal into position and tape the edges down.
Lift up half of the decal from the surface. Peel and snip the
backing. While sitll holding it up in your hand, lightly mist the
surface that it will be applied to with the fluid. Use a hand
squeegee or credit card to remove any trapped water bubbles. Let it
sit for a few minutes and then peel off the top transfer tape.Top
7. On the decal package sets, is it be possible to get all of the
decals in white except the "sport" decals? I would like the
sport decals in blue.
Yes. Just send us an email with your color preference or be sure
to send your color choice when you send us your payment. Top
