'92 -'95 Wrangler Gauge Face Overlay Install Instructions |

Tools required: 1. Standard screwdrivers 2. Application Fluid - Any pump spray bottle full of water and mixed with a few drops of dish soap works too. (recommended) Cluster Removal 1. Remove warning light panel/fascia above the steering column. (2 screws at top) 2. Remove tach and speedo shroud. (4 screws) 3. Remove tach and speedo clear lens covers. (6 screws) 4. Remove round black gauge bezels and set aside. Remove the top cluster housing screws. (2 screws on each side of the engine warning lights in the center) 5. Remove the black auxiliary switch cover on the right of the steering column. It uses the same screw to hold the bottom of the speedo cluster in the dash. (3 screws) 6. Remove the black headlight switch cover on the left of the steering column. It uses the same screw to hold the bottom of the speedo cluster in the dash. (3 screws) 7. Finish removing the entire speedo and tach cluster from the dash. (tilt the steering wheel to the lowest position and unplug the electrical connector). 8. Remove the center gauge cluster shroud. (6 screws) 9. Remove the gauge cluster clear lens. (2 screws) 10. Remove the center gauge cluster from the dash (6 screws). Unplug the rear electrical connector. |
General notes: 1. Pointers are NOT removed. 2. Pointers will return to normal positions when engine is started. 3. Remove "NEGATIVE" battery terminal. |
Speedo / Tach Overlays 1. Placing the cluster on a flat surface. Using a Philips head screwdriver remove the 3 screws on the back of the speedometer so that the speedometer can be removed from the housing. 2. Remove the 3 screw on the back of the tachometer so that it can be removed from the housing. 3. Remove the two smaller screws on each side of the needle hub prior to installing the overlays. 4. Lightly mist each of the faces with the application fluid prior to installation of the overlays 5. To apply, peel off the backing of the overlay and discard. Point the needle toward the top of the instrument and slide the overlay down and over the needle. The overlay will then slip over the needle stop. Adjust the alignment of the numbers and press down, adhering it to the face. Then remove the top transfer tape and backing. Use your fingers to squeegee out any air or water pockets. Small Gauge Overlays 1. These can be installed with out removing them from the housing. 2. Remove the two smaller screws on each side of the needle hub prior to installing the overlays. 3. Lightly mist each of the faces with the application fluid prior to installation of the overlays 4. To apply, peel off the backing of the overlay and discard. Point the needle toward the top of the instrument and slide the overlay down and over the needle. The overlay will then slip over the needle stop. Adjust the alignment of the numbers and press down, adhering it to the face. Then remove the top transfer tape and backing. Use your fingers to squeegee out any air or water pockets. 5.. Reverse the steps for reassembly. Tips: 1. Clean the instruments clear lenses with plastic polish to restore their clarity. 2. Replace instruments back lighting with red or blue accent bulbs. These are easily found at most any auto stores. |
