Jeep YJ Flame Set

Application Instructions

Caution:  Be careful of the chrome or “metal” based vinyl material to not bend the decals too far and crease them. On Chrome use a “light” amount of application fluid and do not slide the decal around. The glue can wash off and render the decal tack-less.

General items needed for installation

1.  Cleaning solution. Any of the following will work great:

-   Rubbing Alcohol  (found at most any grocery Store)

-   Bug and Tar Remover (found at most any auto store)

-   Any type of sticker remover

2.  Film or application fluid. Any of the following solutions will work great:

-  Rapid Tac application fluid  (sign supply store)

-  Any spray bottle full of water and mixed with a

few drops of dish soap works too (recommended)

3.  Squeegee.  In some cases a squeegee is needed for a bubble free install. A squeegee will be needed for this install.

  Application Instructions

1.  Use one of the cleaning solutions list on the left to clean the surface of the hood, removing any elements that might prevent the vinyl from adhering properly. This will also remove any bug or tar chunks that might get trapped under the decal.

2.  With a tape measure, mark the center of your hood from each hood hinge. Then run your tape measure down the hood aligning it with the center of the grill and mark the center.  Apply the decal in the order you see numbered above.

3.  Place the #1 Decal on the center hood and tape the edges of only one side in place so it can not move.

4.  Lift up the free half of the decal from the hood and cut half of the backing off with scissors.  Mist the surface with application fluid and apply that half to the hood. Lift up the remaining side and do the same. Use a squeegee to remove any air or fluid under the lettering and peel off the top transfer tape. If applying chrome decals, spray only a “very light” mist of fluid. Don’t be to anxious to pull the top transfer tape off.  If it appears not to stick then let it sit until some of the water evaporates and it will become tacky again. Also, be sure to not scratch the mirror finish during the squeegee process. Try using the palm of your hand or a roller squeegee. Repeat on #2 decal.

On decal #3 and #4, remove your hood latches completely to avoid any problems. Tape the decals down to fit them both evenly around the hood. This way will make sure you put #3 in the correct spot. Repeat on #6 and #7 decals.

5.   On decals #7 and #8 use the same method. Align them by using the seam in the fender.

6.  Dry the hood off. Lightly warm them with a hair dryer or heat gun to help adhere them if applying them in cold weather. Apply some wax to the surface and surrounding areas to help seal in the decal.
